GSAP Portal
By 2017 the GSAP Portal is in over 250 schools in Ghana alone. The portal is also being used in Kenya, Malawi, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Liberia, the Solomon Islands and the list is growing.
GSAP Portal
The GSAP Portal is a rich set of offline digital materials and resources that GSAP collects and sends to schools and libraries that do not have access to the internet. The portals include the entire Rachel Initiative (which includes the Kahn Academy), plus over 10,000 pieces of educational materials and books. These portals are a way for students to have access to some of the best and extensive resources online, without actually needing an internet connection.
See pdf below for detailed information about the Rachel Initiative and GSAP Portal Learning Resources:
Deploying both the Lab-In-A-Box and GSAP Portals are always done alongside teacher and librarian training and orientation.
Lab in a Box
Our Lab-In-A-Box program is exactly that — a full computer lab in a box featuring computers with access to our GSAP Portal, a rich collection of selected off-line web sites, books, videos and educational resources that support primary through high school students. The systems are even configured for schools lacking power, and they all function without access to the internet.
The labs utilize new or refurbished tablets and/or PCs and laptops and include over 10,000 pieces of educational materials and books for primary school through college. This program can be implemented in schools with, or without electricity.
There are different ways to configure the GSAP Portal and Lab-In-A-Box:
For a donation of $150 by a partner organization, we can provide the GSAP Portal and a file hub
$1400 can provide the GSAP portal for a school lacking electricity; refurbished tablets or laptops, and a properly sized solar collector coupled with LiPo battery technology to create an entire computer lab.
There are additional support levels. Please see our flyer for more information.
“During my trip in July the school children surprised me by having a celebration thanking us for Lab-in-a-Box. Many spoke English and the head coordinator gave them certificates for participating for a full year… Keep up the great work you and your students are doing. There are so many school children in the world who need the gift of an education.” – Carol Herring, Director of North County Mission of Hope
